Welcome to Fortress Technology

Company History

Fortress Technology was created with the firm belief that through superior product design and engineering, the production of higher quality equipment with sensitivities that were never seen before could be achieved. The phenomenal market response to Fortress' line of metal detectors has validated this philosophy.

Since its inception, Fortress has grown substantially and now has equipment installed in over 45 countries with world-renowned customers. In 2001, Fortress moved into a new state-of-the-art headquarters facility and has since vastly expanded its production capability and distribution network.

Fortress Head Office, TorontoStarting in a garage in 1996, partners Dino Rosati and Steve Gidman developed a 'minimalist' metal detector designed for machinery protection applications in textile, wood and plastics industries. This model, known as "Pinpoint", was an analog detector that proved to be competitive with the digital detectors targeted at pharmaceutical and food applications.

The Pinpoint became the basis for the digital signal processing (DSP) model. Introduced by Fortess' experienced founders, who together have more than 50 years combined experience in the metal detector market, today's DSP based technology is used at its highest expression in the incomparable "Phantom".

Fortress has innovated many new features in metal detection simply by listening to its customers. For example, the new coil structure BSH Model can practically ignore the effects of vibration even when inspecting conductive products. Fortress has partnered with customers to develop detectors for specific applications that have achieved operating performance at levels previously thought to be impossible. The ability to deliver metal detection solutions that consistently work while maintaining the fundamental ‘ease of use' philosophy offers customers unsurpassed performance and reliability.

Some recent developments at Fortress have focused on the need for simple, automated record keeping systems. Such demands have come to fruition in an Ethernet-based communication protocol option including wireless connectivity. These products will greatly reduce the cost of record keeping and installation of communication systems while improving system accuracy.

A decade later since its beginnings, one of Fortress Technology's defining attributes is its complete range of innovative systems for industrial inspection applications. In addition, Fortress offers customized solutions to protect customers' brand name, products and reputation.
